The Return

Football held its breath. Three years had passed since a Predator graced a professional pitch — three years in which adidas had pivoted, rebranded, and watched the world wonder if the most iconic boot in the game’s history was gone for good. Then, in the summer of 2017, it came back.

The Predator 18 was not a reissue. It was a reimagining — a declaration that the Predator had survived not by standing still, but by evolving on its own terms. The upper was built on Primeknit, wrapping the foot in a woven second skin, while CONTROLSKIN zones — a textured coating applied directly to the knit — brought the boot’s defining philosophy of surface manipulation into the modern era. Grip was mapped to the areas of the foot most involved in receiving, turning, and striking. Every touch was engineered.

The laceless version pushed the concept further still. A seamless, uninterrupted striking surface. Nothing between foot and ball but intention.

Paul Pogba wore them at Old Trafford. The silhouette was sleek where the old Predators had been bold, but the soul was unchanged: the conviction that the boot could make a good player better, and a great player unstoppable.

Football had its Predator back. It had never really been ready to let it go.
