The Predator 25 refined the boot that brought back the fold-over tongue. The Predator 26 changes more: a new upper, a new soleplate and the return of POWERSPINE, a technology the Predator line first used in 2009. Here’s how they compare.
The upper
Predator 25. A HybridTouch upper with STRIKESKIN rubber elements — the modern take on the Predator’s grip, with a distinct, grippy feel on the ball.
Predator 26. NANOSTRIKE+, a softer and lighter mesh with grip elements built into it. Testers describe the grip as smoother and more consistent from touch to touch, rather than grabbing at the ball.
The soleplate
Predator 25. Controlframe 2.0, which one detailed review describes as more flexible than the 26’s.
Predator 26. A reworked STRIKEFRAME with a new stud layout, plus POWERSPINE — a lightweight full-length plate running from the heel to the forefoot. The result is a flatter, stiffer platform. The most detailed early review found it firmer and more planted when striking, with studs that let the boot rotate more smoothly.
Fit
Both are snug control boots that fit broadly true to size. The most detailed early review found the midfoot tapers, so genuinely wide feet may feel snug until the boot softens, roughly a session and a half, while narrow feet may find spare room at the heel. Try before you buy if you can.
Which should you buy?
Buy the 26 if you strike the ball hard and often, want a stable platform and prefer a smoother, more even grip.
Buy the 25 if you can find it discounted, prefer a more flexible sole or like a grippier, more pronounced feel on the ball. As the 26 settles in, the 25 is likely to be one of the best-value Predators you can buy.
