Predator Sizing and Fit Guide

Whether Predators run true to size, and how fit differs across versions.

Do Predators run true to size?

For most players, yes. Start with your usual adidas size. Testers of the current Predator 26 have generally found it true to size in length. The fit is snug through the midfoot, as a control boot’s should be, and it takes a genuine break-in before it feels at its best.

A note on adidas sizing

adidas sizes don’t always line up neatly with other brands. If you wear Nike or Puma, don’t assume the number carries over — check the adidas size chart, and if possible go by a boot you already own from adidas.

Laced, laceless or fold-over tongue?

The Predator 26 Elite comes in three closures, and they don’t fit quite the same.

Laced. The most adjustable and, for most feet, the most locked-in. The best choice if you have narrow heels or want maximum lockdown.

Laceless. A clean, sock-like fit. Getting the length right matters more, because you can’t tighten it up.

Fold-over tongue. The heritage option, and the most popular. Some testers have found the tongue versions a little less secure at the heel than the laced boot. If you’ve had heel slip in boots before, try the laced version alongside it.

Should you size up or down?

Don’t size down for a tighter fit. It’s the fastest route to toe pain and blisters.

Size up half a size only if you like extra room in the toe box or wear thick socks — and expect a little less lockdown.

Break-in

Wear new Predators around the house and in training before a match. The upper softens with use; the first sessions are when you find out whether any pressure points will settle or stay. If a boot is painful across the widest part of your foot from the start, it’s probably the wrong boot, not a break-in problem.

Surface matters too

Fit can feel different on different soleplates. Buy the right outsole for where you play — FG for natural grass, AG for artificial grass, TF for turf — and try on the surface version you’ll actually use.

Frequently asked questions

Is the fold-over tongue version tighter or looser?

Similar in length, but some players find the tongue versions a little less locked-in at the heel than the laced version.

Should I size down in Predators?

No. Start with your normal size.
