Are adidas Predators Good for Wide Feet?

Which Predator models and versions suit wider feet, and how to get the fit right.

The short answer

Predators can work for slightly wide feet, but they aren’t a true wide-fit boot. The Predator is built as a control boot with a structured, locked-down fit. Medium-width feet settle in easily; genuinely wide feet are likely to feel the squeeze on first wear and will need to trust the break-in.

Which Predator to try first

The Pro. For wider feet, the Pro is usually the best place to start. It keeps the Predator’s shape and character, with a slightly more substantial upper.

The laced versions. Laces let you loosen the forefoot where you need room and tighten the heel where you need lockdown. Laceless versions give you no adjustment at all.

The League. Simpler materials and a more forgiving feel than the top tiers. A sensible option for recreational players with wider feet.

How to size for wide feet

  • Start with your normal size. Never size down.
  • Consider half a size up only if the length is fine but the forefoot pinches — and accept a little less lockdown.
  • Test at the widest point. The ball of your foot shouldn’t be painfully squeezed. Some tightness that eases with wear is normal; sharp pressure isn’t.
  • Try them properly — walk, jog and cut before you commit to a match.

When to look beyond the Predator

If every Predator you try pinches across the forefoot, it isn’t the boot for your feet, however much you want one. Within adidas, the Copa line is usually more forgiving for wide feet. A boot that fits will always beat a boot you love the look of.
