Vintage adidas Predator Boots: Values
Which vintage Predators collectors want, and what they are worth.

“Vintage Predator” generally means the leather-era boots from the line’s first decade: the original 1994 Predator through to the Precision and Mania of the early 2000s. These are the boots the whole collector market is built around — kangaroo leather uppers, rubber elements that still look handmade by comparison with anything made since, and, for the biggest names, a direct line to a World Cup or a famous goal.
This page is the overview. For the two boots collectors ask about most, we’ve written full guides: Predator Accelerator values and Predator Mania values.
The vintage line-up
| Boot | Year | Why collectors want it |
|---|---|---|
| Predator | 1994 | The original. Scarce simply because of its age, and the boot every later Predator traces back to. |
| Predator Rapier | 1995 | Introduced the fold-over tongue that later defined the line. Less chased than the Accelerator or Mania, but historically significant. |
| Predator Touch | 1996 | Expanded the rubber zones and added Traxion studs — the boot that turned the Predator from one model into a line. |
| Predator Accelerator | 1998 | Zidane’s World Cup-winning boot, and the look every later Predator is measured against. One of the two most valuable vintage Predators — full value guide. |
| Predator Precision | 2000 | The free-kick boot: Euro 2000, and Beckham’s 2001 equaliser against Greece. |
| Predator Mania | 2002 | The one most people picture when they think “Predator” — especially in Beckham’s “Champagne” colourway. The other most valuable vintage Predator — full value guide. |
Where the line goes “vintage” from here is a matter of taste. The 2004 Predator Pulse is the newest boot you’ll sometimes hear described that way, but the real collector conversation — and the remakes adidas keeps making — centres on the Accelerator and the Mania above everything else.
What drives vintage Predator value, in general
The same handful of things matter across every boot on this list:
- Condition. Leather, glue and foam from the 1990s and early 2000s don’t last forever, even unworn. A genuinely clean, “deadstock” pair of any vintage Predator is rare, and worth far more than a played pair.
- Original vs. remake. adidas has reissued the Accelerator and the Mania especially often since 2014 — see our remakes vs originals guide for the full timeline and how to tell them apart.
- Colourway. Some colourways are simply more wanted than others — the Mania’s “Champagne” is the clearest example, worth considerably more than the standard launch colour in the same condition.
- Size, packaging and provenance. As with any collectible boot: rarer sizes, a surviving original box, and any documented link to a specific player or match all add to the value.
A note on prices
We looked for reliable, recent completed-sale data across the whole vintage line and couldn’t find it — what’s publicly available is mostly asking prices, which tell you what a seller hopes for rather than what a boot is actually worth. Our Accelerator and Mania guides go into what we did find, and are honest about the limits of it. For the other boots on this page, treat any figure you see elsewhere with the same caution, and check a marketplace’s own sold listings before buying or selling.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most valuable vintage adidas Predator?
The Accelerator (1998) and the Mania (2002) — especially Beckham’s “Champagne” Mania — are the two most sought-after by collectors, though reliable recent sold-price data is hard to come by for either.
Which Predator counts as “vintage”?
Generally the leather-era boots from the original 1994 Predator through to the Mania in 2002, sometimes stretched to the 2004 Pulse. There’s no official cutoff.
Are vintage Predators still being made?
Not the originals — but adidas has reissued several of them, especially the Accelerator and Mania, repeatedly since 2014. A reissue is worth collecting in its own right, but sells for less than a genuine original in the same condition.
How do I know if a “vintage” Predator is real?
Check the upper material, the soleplate and the label against what the original used — our guides to remakes vs originals and spotting fake Predators cover the specific checks.
